"THE EDUCATION OF LITTLE TREE" 1997 Leni's Role: Aunt Martha |
|||||||||||
The film is set in 1935 Tennessee society. Little Tree's parents have died and he is living with his aunt Martha in town. Little Tree's paternal grandparents have come to take the 8 year old boy to live with them in a Tennessee mountain cabin. Martha, played by Leni Parker is distraught and begs for the child to remain with her. Martha is an Anglo-Saxon American and her choice of words indicate that she is prejudiced against Little Tree's Cherokee heritage. His paternal grandmother is a Cherokee Indian. Leni plays her character in one memorable scene, at the very beginning of the film. Her Tennessee southern accent was wonderful. Her performance was very believable and brought quality to the film. |
