"HEMOGLOBIN" 1997

Leni's Role: Baby Laura

The Van Damme family from Holland immigrated to North America 300 years ago. They settled on the Atlantic Coast on an island where they began to produce children among themselves.

Due to their inbreeding, the children eventually become severely mutated and hunger for human flesh.

75 years ago the island people set fire to the Van Damme Estate and think they have killed everyone. However, some of the mutants escape underground and remain there continuing with their community.

Leni Parker appears in the film as Baby Laura. Her character stopped speaking at six years old. She is not one of the mutants.

Leni portrays her character as a shy, withdrawn woman who drinks alot and obeys everyone's wishes. We see her in a few closeups and the great Leni Parker facial expressions make her stand out above the crowd.

The mutants begin to feed above ground and the cast have to fight for their lives. Suddenly Baby Laura gathers strength and no longer is shy and withdrawn. In one glorious effort she jumps into a pit to save lives. She lands on both feet with legs spread apart, body well balanced, and standing tall. She stares down her opponent and yells: "No f----ing way!" Then, with an hunter's knife in her left hand, she throws the blade with such force that it immediately hits the heart of her opponent. Another mutant slashes her throat, and Baby Laura dies an heroine's death.

It sure was a treat to see Leni in action.
